"Sleep is the best meditation."
-Dalai Lama
How to improve your sleep (which also enhances your academic performance, even your driving!):
- Maintain your Circadian Rhythm:
- This means you go to sleep and wake up at the same time all week long, so no more all-nighters or sleeping in.
- Improve sleep hygiene:
- When taking a nap aim for less than one hour.
- Do NOT do any other activity such as watching TV, doing homework, or checking your phone in bed except sleeping.
- And make sure your bedroom is in a comfortable environment.
- Have white noise:
- Something you can hear the whole night such as a ceiling fan or a sound machine for sleep therapy (you can also find these noises available on YouTube or by purchasing this machine via Amazon).
Sleeping well at night allows us to perform best the following day, make sure you get about seven to nine hours of sleep to benefit yourself emotionally, physically, and academically.
